200k for Social Prescribing @ Par Track…
WOO HOO!! We have been successful in receiving project funding of £200k from Big Lottery Funding, Heritage Lottery Funding & NESTA, to run a Social Prescribing Scheme from our Track. The long term aim is to get the local and surrounding area to improve their Health & Wellbeing and reduce health inequalities.
Our Social Prescribing programme will take a holistic approach to support and improve the health and wellbeing of specific target groups and individuals, through developing interventions to meet their tailored goals. The project will involve working with groups of all ages, including the local primary school.
We will work alongside the primary care services within the immediate vicinity, engaging and utilising the social prescription model to support their patients to take responsibility for improving their health and wellbeing. Social prescribing enables GPs to refer patients to non-clinical services. For example, a person experiencing low mood or depression or coping with diabetes could be referred to a walking group, as walking in a group has a positive effect on wellbeing and mental health.
We are currently in process of setting up a walking group – open to all, an over 50’s keep fit class and cycling sessions for all ages!
Watch this space for developments! We are very excited!
